Alaska Cabin

Vic came to Alaska in 1955, bought a Super Cub in 1956 and filed gold claims on Treasure Creek the same year.  The first runway was built by removing brush and leveling the creek bed, but the runway washed out during high water.  A D-4 caterpillar was bought in 1958 and moved cross country. to a new runway site above the creek.  The runway was completed in 1959 and a log cabin built in 1960.  The land for the cabin was obtained by trapping one winter as part of a Government program.  A 16 x 70 work shed was added in the 1970's.  Cabin remote and accessible only by air in the summer or aircraft on skiis or snow machine in the winter.
