We had a change of plans and left St. Simons, GA at noon March 28, 2019 for the 2000 mile trip back to Whitewood. Overnight stops were made at Alexander City AB, Willow Springs, MO, and Sioux Falls, SD. Travel was routine until Northern Missouri when we had to detour 60 miles because of flooding on a state highway. Later in the day we detoured again when we found that I-29 was closed from St. Joseph, MO to just above Omaha, NE. The final day from Sioux Falls to Whitewood was made with good weather, good roads, and a stop at Wall Drug for a 5 cent cup of coffee. We arrived back in Whitewood about 2:30 PM. Our final musical concert at St. Simons was a youth concert and steel drum band presentation at Wesley UMC.

These are 5th and 6th graders playing in the youth bell choir. Each child knew which note he had and the poster board in the previous photo told them when to play their notes. It worked and sounded good.

Home after 5921 miles of travel. Great trip and we really enjoyed it, but “there’s no place like home.”
